Verizon Gigabit Review – We Looked How It Performs in 2024

Verizon Gigabit internet has been pretty good in recent times but how does it perform in 2024? We have answered many peoples pressing questions in this review.

Verizon Gigabit review - is it worth it

Verizon has been in business in this highly competitive industry for more than 16 years. With such experience, the company knows exactly what you need in terms of quality and affordability. However, there are other competing companies which means there’s the likelihood of getting a better service from them. Before you settle for any Internet plan, take time to read reviews and analyze them.

So, have you thought of Verizon FiOS as a viable option? Have you been dealing with slow downloads, timed-out web pages and painful buffering and now wants to consider a better option? If yes, then Verizon Gigabit is essentially a good option for you. However, we have to review Verizon Gigabit and share our own verdict to help you rule out whether it’s good for you or not.

What is Verizon Gigabit?

Verizon Gigabit promises the fastest internet in the market today with download speeds of 940Mbps and upload speeds of 880Mbps. At such a rate, you are sure that you will not cope with timed out pages and long load time. In this case, the upload speeds and download speeds are exactly as fast. Such fast internet is important for streaming content, chatting with friends, recording and uploading videos and audios and browse online.

After the announcement of this improvement, Verizon clearly stated that the upgrade will be available to New Jersey, Richmond, VA, Providence, Boston, Washington DC, Philadelphia, New York and Hampton roads, VA. They announced that the new Gigabit plan will offer Gigabit internet and the price would start as low as $70.

This is quite a low price for such internet speeds. However, there are some things we should know about the Verizon upgrade and the pricing.

It’s not a gig internet plan, the price is not quite $70

As the company reported, the $70 price tag is for customers who don’t have the Verizon’s FiOS service. What this means is that for existing Verizon customers that want to upgrade, the price is going to be relatively higher than that of Gigabit plans from other ISPs. New customers will also have to pay for additional router charges and several other fees that can bump the price higher than $70 per month.

Checking on the site, the company hasn’t clearly elaborated on the price. The website is not clear about the price and the download and upload speeds. Besides the fact that they claim the price is $70, it’s just a promotional rate which will eventually change. The website also clearly states that the price for the Verizon Gigabit plan depends on the promotional discounts or if you can claim the Verizon first responder promo. The standard price is at $195 for all the users including the new customers. This is now reduced to $70 via a ten per cent discount and a special bonus discount that will automatically skyrocket after the contract period.

More to the confusion is that the price is not standard for the existing subscribers. This shows that the existing customers upgrade price will highly depend on what their current internet plan is with Verizon. There’s no definite and a clear price for that. To better understand that, a customer subscribed to 150Mbps and paying $75 a month can upgrade to a gigabit connection at an additional cost of $20. Other subscribers might have to pay higher or lower prices depending on the plans.

Furthermore, the download speeds for the Verizon Gigabit is pegged at 750-940Mbps while the upload speeds are at 880Mbps. The speeds are close to gigabit speeds but they are not quite as the name suggests. So what do you think about the speeds and the pricing and the existing confusion? It indicates that there’s a lot to learn and know before making your decisions. New users should weigh the differences in price and speeds with their other alternatives before ordering.

Pros

  • Its relatively affordable
  • High download speeds
  • The best for uploading
  • Can Bundle with other Verizon services
  • No annual contracts

Cons

  • Long waiting periods
  • Only available in Certain areas

User Reviews vs. Expert reviews

Checking the user reviews and comments online, it’s easy to notice that many people agree the Verizon Gigabit internet is a good option for all types of internet use. However, there’s need to check expert reviews as shared in this brief to make an informed decision. I also don’t recommend checking user reviews as the only factor to make your decision. Remember, the main issue with customer reviews is that users with negative experiences tend to leave more reviews online than the users with positive experiences. So, keep this in your mind before you digest user reviews for decision making.

According to the user experiences and site-wide analysis done on Verizon Gigabit, it’s clear that Verizon Gigabit is the best you can get anywhere in the country. Remember quality internet these days is vital especially if you have to work from home. To support my opinion, I have to list all the reasons for this decision. Here are my basic reasons why Verizon Gigabit and the gigabit speed of internet is the best choice.

Verizon Gigabit Internet customer reviews

Here are some reviews from customers that can help you understand common issues you will definitely have to deal with after subscribing. Carol of Hummelstown, PA left a 5-star review confirming that she loved the Verizon FiOS Triple play for the nice internet speeds, its reliability and applicability for personal and business-related internet use.

Marie of Chandler, AZ left a five star review on Customeraffairs.com claiming that the service is the best and meets all her expectations. The download and Upload speeds are fantastic and exactly what she needed to work from home. The user praises the high upload speeds adding that 880Mbps is enough for video conferencing, uploading large files and Skyping.

Besides these two positive reviews, there are some users that are not particularly pleased with the service, the price and the waiting period. Most of them claim that service speeds and pricing is confusing. Many people would not be able to understand exactly what is needed on their behalf and the price they’ll have to pay monthly.

The speeds are awesome

Verizon Gigabit service is not the only internet service offering gigabit speeds in the country. Other Internet service providers are in the same move. But there’s something unique about Verizon Gigabit which makes me believe it’s the best plan for your internet needs. The Verizon Gigabit offers an awesome level of speeds for both upload and download connections. Upload speeds really matter now more than ever. During the Coronavirus period when many Americans are working from home, upload speeds are very essential. People will have to report to work through Video conferencing and video chats.

Interviews and discussions are currently happening through video calls. High upload speeds will equally matter if you are doing something like Skyping for Office work, sending large files online and video conferencing. To do all this, you need Internet upload speeds of more than 50Mbps. This is just a fraction of what Verizon Gigabit internet offers. Can you imagine the hustle you can get yourself into trying to connect with your workmates when your children are home trying to stream their favorite kids movies or playing games online? You can run out of upload capability and end up suffering poor connections or long load times.

The prices are very reasonable and affordable

So how much do you think 940Mbps download and 880Mbps upload speeds are worth? In most areas, you will get such download and upload speeds from Verizon gigabit at a price of $89.95 per month. Normally, this is a price for 100Mbps download speed and 20Mbps upload speeds from many ISPs. The company is currently offering promotional prices which means that the price can go lower than this especially depending on where you live. Users end up getting a $10.00 discount per month. This happens if you decide to pay your monthly bills automatically every month. You cannot get a better value for your money for such services and speeds.

Effortless ordering

To order for Verizon Gigabit plans, you just need to go to Verizon.com and search to see whether the service is available in your area. After this, place to set up an appointment for a technician to come and install the equipment for you. Surprisingly, professional installation is free most of the time because of Verizon Promotional offers. The company can as well get you a wireless router for free if you are moving to a place where their internet service was previously used. Verizon makes it easy for you to order and get the services. In my opinion, Verizon is among the few Internet service providers that can install your internet service within 48 hours of ordering.

New Router and high quality equipment

Verizon has introduced a new router which is one of the fastest tested and verified device. The equipment can be installed on the basement utility closet. This will not compromise significantly on the download and upload speeds. In the above floors, you can get up to 50% of the upload and download speeds. This is amazing and unique.

Relatively better customer service

Internet industry in USA is known for poor customer service and unsatisfied customers. The FIOS tech in our case is relatively informed and are capable of answering all the questions users have. Although this has not been the case with all the users that left their reviews and comments online, at least the team can install and get back to you in case of any technical issues.

Verizon special deals

Verizon as an internet service provider offers Bundle packages for TV, Phone services and internet. One of the best ways of saving money monthly on utilities is combing all these services on a single bill. The best Bundle to get is the basic plan for 940/880Mbps internet and Custom TV at a monthly cost of $79.99 per month. Each of these deals rises by about $5 every month after the contract period.

Verizon Gigabit common complaints

Analyzing the reviews submitted online by Verizon Gigabit and Verizon FiOS users, I have noticed a trend of some of the most common complaints. The main complaint is the amount of time it takes to get the service. This is currently a common issue because Verizon has been installing new lines all the way to customer buildings. The process of building the infrastructure is very expensive and always faced with zoning issues and regulatory issues. Some Landlords don’t allow Verizon to run fiber lines in their buildings. Consequently, new subscribers usually wait for long and even months before they get the Internet in their homes.

Our Final verdict on Verizon Gigabit plan

Verizon Gigabit internet plan offers more than enough download and upload speeds at affordable and reasonable prices. I don’t see anything to argue about when it comes to internet speeds. However, there’s a lot of confusion on the amount of money required for this internet plan per month. Verizon claims that the users will only pay $70 per month for a grace period of one or two years. This is not the case because there are other fees that accrue. You will only get this service if you live in areas where it’s available. Verizon Gigabit plan is not a nationwide service just yet.

Besides those few complaints, Verizon Gigabit is good for serious internet users, gamers, professionals, working at home Freelancers and serious content streamers.
