Contour TV Review Cox Cable – Is it Worth It in 2022

Contour TV offers customers access to appealing features they haven’t enjoyed with other TV service providers. From exciting channel selections to decent on-demand content, Contour TV will deliver an immersive TV viewing experience you can’t resist.

Yes, they may not offer the same channel count as other providers; but we still love the fact that they are transparent with their pricing. This means there is no unexpected price hike after the end of their promotional offer.

Thanks to its decent DVR that features 350 hours of storage and ability to record six shows simultaneously, Cox TV will have you plugged to your favorite movies and TV shows. Read on to discover everything you need to know about Contour cable TV.

Contour TV pricing and package

Although contour TV’s pricing and packages fall into the more expensive spectrum, they are super honest with their pricing and spell everything out for you in black and white. This means you can kiss goodbye to hidden fees charged by other TV service providers. Starting at $65 per month; the Cox Contour TV package offers you exclusive access to over 140 exotic channels.

While their pricing maybe $10-$20 more than you’ll pay with DirecTV, U-verse, Xfinity, or Frontier, their channel count, and quality on-demand content means you’ll not be missing out on so much.

One thing you can’t take away from Cox TV is their transparency as their pricing doesn’t hike after the end of their promotional period. With other providers, prices can double the initial price you paid while signing up. So if you want to keep your TV subscription consistent, you’ll be better off with Cox TV.

Although their Contour TV package is their most popular plan, Cox cable TV also offers a budget-friendly TV Starter plan. With this plan, you’ll enjoy 75 exciting channels for only $25 a month.

Additional fees

Like most TV service providers, Cox TV feature additional charges you should be aware of. The only difference here is that Contour TV spells everything out for you during the checkout process. With Contour TV, there is a broadcast surcharge that costs $10 per month. On top of that, you’ll have to pay a regional sports charge that costs $9 per month.

And before we get ahead of ourselves, please keep in mind that their TV Starter plan doesn’t include an option for DVR service. Plus, if you want to use their DVR with multiple TVs, your fees will go up every month.

Thankfully, their Starter plan is perfect for large families as they don’t charge you an extra $10 per month for each cable box. With this, Cox TV is ahead of Xfinity and other providers.

On the flip side, you’ll still have to pay $10 monthly if you opt for their Contour TV package as you’ll be needing a Contour HD receiver. And if you decide to go for their DVR instead, you’ll incur additional charges. And depending on the type of DVR you go for, you’ll be paying around $12.99 to $19.99 monthly.

Not satisfied with their services and looking to cut ties with them? Please keep in mind that their early termination fee is as high as $250.

Technical charges

With Cox TV, you may experience technical issues from time to time. This is where the Cox Complete Care plan becomes super important. With the Cox Complete Care plan that starts at $10 monthly, you don’t have to bother yourself as this plan covers for hassle-free repair and replacement. That’s not all; it also covers for defective wiring, everyday wear, and tear, as well as fixing chewed and frayed wires.

While a single technician visit will cost $60, a year of Cox Complete Care plan goes for only $120. That’s a pretty good deal you don’t want to miss out on.

Cox Cable channel offerings

Cox TV may not boast of tons of channels, but guess what, they still offer an exciting array of TV channels that will keep you entertained all day long. From top channels like ABC, FOX, NC, PBS, and others to premium channels like HBO, ESPN, UNISON, and Fox Sports 1, Contour TV will ensure you never miss out on your favorite movies and TV shows.

Premium channels

Cox cable is on top of its game as they offer a variety of premium TV channels you’ll love. From HBO to Cinemax to Starz to Epix and more, Contour TV features “A” list channels with exciting content you can’t say no to. The cool part is that their pricing is fair and better than standalone subscriptions to these premium channels. So if you want to enjoy exclusive access to premium channels for less, you should consider giving Cox TV a try.

Exclusive Sport Content

Contour TV is not lacking in sports content. Cox TV offers two exciting Sports paks. Whether you opt for Sports and information or Sports Pak 2, you can still keep up with your favorite sporting events. Starting at $10 every month, you can get plugged into your favorite sports content right away.

Contour TV on-demand content

With thousands of on-demand content you can watch on the go, Contour TV isn’t doing too bad, its main features contains tons of movies and shows and all the newest releases that can keep you and your family entertained for hours.

Cox TV DVR information

Cox TV offers you two exclusive DVR to choose from. There is the Contour Record 6 and Contour Record 2. Although both DVR are similar in function, they are different in a couple of ways. With the Contour Record 6, you’ll enjoy 2TB of storage. That’s 340 hours of HD and 1000 hours of SD. More so, you get to record six shows simultaneously.

Their Contour Record 2 DVR, on the other hand, is pretty basic. It features a 500GB storage space and allows you to record two shows at a time.

When it comes to installation, Contour TV offers you two options. You can either install it yourself for a one-time fee of $20 or have a professional install it for $75. So depending on what works for you, you’ll find one of their installation plans worth it.

Customer rating

Contour TV is not doing too badly as they try to put their customers first. The 2019 American Customer Satisfaction Index rated them pretty fairly. But while they are above Spectrum and Xfinity, they are way behind the likes of DirecTV, U-verse, and Verizon FiOS TV. With some improvements, Cox TV should perform better in the coming years.

Customer reviews

Our Contour TV review won’t be complete if we don’t show you what other customers are saying about their services. Here, read what other customers are saying about Cox TV. Hopefully, you’ll find their reviews worth it.

Janet of Wichita, KS Verified Reviewer

I’ve been using Cox cable for years now, and that’s because it has been super convenient for me. While I’m not entirely pleased with the fact that they raise their rates continually, their services are great, and that’s why I’m still using them. One time, I had some issues with poor connections, and they were able to sort that out quicker than I expected. If they can do something about their consistent price hike, that would be great. Besides that, I think they are in the right direction.

Derek of San Tan Valley, AZ Verified Reviewer

I’ve been super lucky with Contour TV. Their services have been nothing but amazing. I’m surprised by the number of negative reviews I see about them. Been using them since 2015 and my charges have been pretty consistent. I understand that their customer service can be terrible sometimes as I have had a few experiences with them, but they have always tried to improve, and that’s what counts.

I’ve so far introduced four of my brothers to their TV and internet service, and they haven’t had any bad thing to say about their services.

Marvin of Virginia Beach, VA Verified Reviewer

I was fed up with my cable TV subscription and was looking for something a bit affordable and reliable. I came across Contour TV and was blown away by their offer. I decided to give them a try, and I haven’t regretted it. Although I’ve had a few hassles with their customer reps, I’ve no complaints about their TV and internet service. Plus, their prices have remained pretty consistent over the years. If I had to do this again, I’d still give them a try.
